Google Adwords News

CPM Advertising at Google Adwords

What exactly is CPM. The acronym CPM stands for Cost Per M the M being the roman numeral for one thousand. The cost part being how much and the M part for each 1,000 impressions/downloads your text advert/banner receives, prices start from less than £1.00 per 1,000 impressions.

CPM is not a new way of advertising on the web, but it is a new option now available for your Google Adwords campaign on the Google advertising Network.

Your ad on multiple sites

The major advantage of CPM targeted Adwords is that your Google Adwords campaign can now target named sites.

For example if you provide services to the entertainment world, your campaign can target potential clients at highly relevant entertainment web sites who belong to the Google Network, for example The Stage.

Google Adwords includes country and language targeting which helps focus your ad budget more effectively, after all if you only supply UK clients you do not want your ad showing in the US or Australia.

Increasing visitors and conversions with banner based Google Adwords

Google's CPM advertising option provides you with an additional visitor generating traffic stream to your web sites landing pages's.

Down to business - What you need to succeed:

Creating the banner Ads

  • Formats and examples for the banner ads https://adwords.google.com/sel2ect/ima2ges2mp1es.html: - 5 sizes (728x90, 468x60,120x600, 160x600, 300x250).
  • File formats include .JPEG, .GIF, or .PNG format.
  • The banner maximum file is 50 KB but the lower the size the better.
  • Your banner Adwords can include animation but not looped. One play only.
  • Show products that photograph well. Show smiling, confident, attractive people, use warm, happy colours and strong calls to action "Win Free" "Join today" "Click for Latest Offers".
  • You must make banner ads in all five formats. The websites that will display your banner ad specify the banner size space, your banner must fit that space.
  • Click Through Rates are hard to judge at this time, but we have heard of Google banner CPM ads achieving 30% plus CTR.

Making Money from Your Website with Google AdSense

Google AdSense is the Google program

where you can host pay-per-click ads on your Web site.

When someone clicks an ad, you earn money.

Simple as that.

Is it really as easy to make money with Google AdSense

as many would lead you to believe?

Now that I've become heavily involved with managing

Google AdSense programs for my clients,

I can see it's not all play and no work.

Unfortunately,

a lot of people bought into the idea that there was

a lot of easy money to be made and they

are now finding out they aren't making nearly as much as

they thought they would. Additionally,

Google has a lot of prohibited practices

when it comes to AdSense, and too many

Webmasters are finding out they violated Google's policies after the fact -

often because they never bothered to read the AdSense policies in the first place.

Search Engine

Many people obsess about every word Matt Cutts says,

but there are plenty of other Googlers that can teach us a thing or two about Google's inner workings.

At Search Engine Strategies Chicago 2006 I was on a panel with one of them:

Dan Crow, who is part of Google's search quality group and is the Product Manager for the crawl infrastructure group.

When Jill Whalen and Pauline Kerbici of High Rankings started a local organization

called Search Engine Marketing New England (SEMNE),

I suggested that they invite Dan to speak. Besides his charming British accent,

Dan's a great speaker because he knows everything about Googlebots and indexing.

Last month in Providence, nearly 100 SEMNE members and guests showed up to meet Dan.

To learn about the official presentation, you can read Jill's summary,

"Getting into Google," and Rand Fishkin's post,

"Dan Crow of Google on Crawling, Indexing & Ranking."

Instead of yet another summary, here I will cover the unofficial story,

the conversations I had with Dan before and after the main event.

Earn more revenue

You can maximize your revenue potential by displaying Google ads on your website.

Baby is father at 13

BOY dad Alfie Patten yesterday admitted he does not know how much nappies cost

— but said: “I think it’s a lot.”
Baby-faced Alfie, who is 13 but looks more like eight, became a father four days ago

when his girlfriend Chantelle Steadman gave birth to 7lb 3oz Maisie Roxanne.

He told how he and Chantelle, 15, decided against an abortion after discovering she was pregnant.

The shy lad, whose voice has not yet broken, said: “I thought it would be good to have a baby.

“I didn’t think about how we would afford it. I don’t really get pocket money. My dad sometimes gives me £10.”

Little family ... Alfie, Chantelle and baby Maisie

Lee Thompson

Alfie, who is just 4ft tall, added: “When my mum found out, I thought I was going to get in trouble. We wanted to have the baby but were worried how people would react.

“I didn’t know what it would be like to be a dad. I will be good, though, and care for it.”

Alfie's story, broken exclusively by The Sun today has sparked a huge political storm with Tory leader David Cameron saying: "When I saw these pictures this morning, I just thought how worrying that in Britain today children are having children.

"I hope that somehow these children grow up into responsible parents but the truth is parenthood is just not something they should be thinking about right now."

Secret

PM Gordon Brown refused to comment directly on the story but said it was important that the Government did all it could to prevent teenage pregnancies.

Alfie’s dad Dennis yesterday told how the lad does not really understand the enormity of his situation — but seemed desperate to be a devoted and responsible father.

He wanted to be the first to hold Maisie after the hospital birth. He tenderly kisses the baby and gives her a bottle.

And Dennis, 45, said: “He could have shrugged his shoulders and sat at home on his Playstation. But he has been at the hospital every day.”

Maisie was conceived after Chantelle and Alfie — just 12 at the time — had a single night of unprotected sex.

They found out about the baby when Chantelle was 12 weeks pregnant.

But they kept it a secret until six weeks later when Chantelle’s mum Penny, 38, became suspicious about her weight gain and confronted her.

Devoted ... Alfie holds and cuddles Maisie
Lee Thompson

After that Alfie’s family told only those closest to them for fear he would be “demonised” at school.

Chantelle gave birth to Maisie on Monday night after a five-hour labour at Eastbourne Hospital, East Sussex.

Last night she told The Sun: “I’m tired after the birth. I was nervous after going into labour but otherwise I was quite excited.”

Chantelle told how she discovered she was expecting after going to her GP with “really bad” stomach pains. She said: “Me and Alfie went. The doctor asked me whether we had sex. I said yes and he said I should do a pregnancy test. He did the test and said I was pregnant. I started crying and didn’t know what to do.

“He said I should tell my mum but I was too scared.

“We didn’t think we would need help from our parents. You don’t really think about that when you find out you are pregnant. You just think your parents will kill you.”

But Penny figured out what was going on after buying Chantelle a T-shirt which revealed her swelling tum.

Chantelle admitted she and Alfie — who are both being supported by their parents — would be accused of being grossly irresponsible. She said: “We know we made a mistake but I wouldn’t change it now. We will be good loving parents.

“I have started a church course and I am going to do work experience helping other young mums.

“I’ll be a great mum and Alfie will be a great dad.”

Caring .... Alfie bottle feeds his little daughter
Lee Thompson

Chantelle and Maisie were released from hospital yesterday. They are living with Penny, Chantelle’s jobless dad Steve, 43, and her five brothers in a rented council house in Eastbourne. The family live on benefits. Alfie, who lives on an estate across town with mum Nicola, 43, spends most of his time at the Steadmans’ house.

He is allowed to stay overnight and even has a school uniform there so he can go straight to his classes in the morning.

Alfie’s dad, who is separated from Nicola, believes the lad is scared deep down.

He said: “Everyone is telling him things and it’s going round in his head. It hasn’t really dawned on him. He hasn’t got a clue of what the baby means and can’t explain how he feels. All he knows is mum and dad will help.

“When you mention money his eyes look away. And she is reliant on her mum and dad. It’s crazy. They have no idea what lies ahead.”

Dennis, who works for a vehicle recovery firm, described Alfie as “a typical 13-year-old boy”.

He said: “He loves computer games, boxing and Manchester United.” Dennis, who has fathered nine kids, told how he was “gobsmacked” when he discovered Alfie was to be a dad, too..

He said: “When I spoke to him he started crying. He said it was the first time he’d had sex, that he didn’t know what he was doing and of the complications that could come.

“I will talk to him again and it will be the birds and the bees talk. Some may say it’s too late but he needs to understand so there is not another baby.”

Lovely

Chantelle’s mum said: “I told her it was lovely to have the baby but I wish it was in different circumstances. We have five children already so it’s a big financial responsibility. But we are a family and will pull together and get through.

“She’s my daughter. I love her and she will want for nothing.”

Last night Michaela Aston, of the anti-abortion Christian charity LIFE, said: “We commend these teenagers for their courage in bringing their child into the world.

“At the same time this is symptomatic of the over-sexualisation of our youngsters and shows the policy of value-free sex education just isn’t working.”

Today Sussex Police and the local council's children services said they have investigated the case and pledged continued support for the young parents.

Britain’s youngest known father is Sean Stewart. He became a dad at 12 when the girl next door, 15-year-old Emma Webster, gave birth in Sharnbrook, Bedford, in 1998. They split six months later.

Feeding, nappies... and PlayStation

PS3 .... new dad Alfie Patten, 13, and mum Chantelle Steadman, 15, with baby Maisie and PlayStation

INNOCENT-eyed Alfie Patten spent his first night acting as a 13-year-old dad and declared: “It was easier than I thought.”
The four-footer — who looks no more than eight — said: “I know I’m young, but I plan to be a good dad.”

As he went on the PlayStation with 15-year-old girlfriend Chantelle Steadman, he added: “I think we’ll be good parents. I’ll have to work extra hard at school.”

Boys could have kids at age of six

DOCTOR Carol Cooper, The Sun’s GP, explains the physical changes in lads and when they occur. BOYS can actually get a girl pregnant at the age of six or seven — though it is extremely rare. Puberty starts for most boys at 12. Hormonal changes occur first and then sperm starts to mature — though it is unlikely at this stage that many would be capable of impregnating a girl. The growth spurt, voice changes plus facial hair are secondary to hormonal changes and come later.

Something Different Every Day

The morning that the ALSC/YALSA Youth Media Awards are announced is one of my favorite days of the year! In past years, I’ve watched the streaming video and enjoyed it immensely. But this year was even more fun being there in person, hearing the cheers for my committee’s picks. SO MUCH FUN.!

I have to say that I am very proud of the work the Geisel Committee did this year! It’s really odd to be on a committee with such a short history–this was only its fifth year. But that was also a cool thing, because it made you examine very carefully what the criteria for the award were, what fit, and what didn’t. I learned a lot about how children learn to read and what gets in their way.

We picked another Elephant & Piggie book for the gold medal. It’s the nature of easy readers that every once in awhile, a very strong series comes along and magically hooks kids into reading, and we are privileged to be living in the time when Elephant & Piggie does just that. Our Honor books make a very nicely rounded group of books: A picture book (One Boy), a nonfiction book (Wolfsnail), a very traditional easy reader (Chicken Said “Cluck!”, and a graphic novel (Stinky). And yet I can assure you that balancing the honor books was not part of the criteria–we just picked the books that we thought worked the best on every level for new readers.

Calling the authors was fun too! One author had never heard of the award, but was pleased nonetheless. Mo Willems of course HAD heard of the award, and made this charming and funny response, date-stamped because he (and Trixie) were sworn to secrecy until the awards were announced.

Being on a committee like this is a ton of work, and incredibly rewarding. I highly recommend joining ALSC, filling in those volunteer forms, and attending conferences. It enriches you personally and professionally, and it enriches the library you represent, too.

Every day is different

Every day is different -- not to mention every hour. The old complaint that we often have is that life is at a standstill. That promotion you wanted, the change that you wanted to happen, never seems to happen. You are waiting for something to happen, perhaps for your opportunity to fall in your lap. The thing is that, if you notice it or not, the world is changing, and changing constantly. If you have any doubt, just ask Claude Monet.

A book can be written on Monet. Well, several have been written. Here I will not attempt to dive deeply into all the different aspects of Monet's life and work. Monet is perhaps one of the most loved artists today. It wasn't always like that. He was often made fun of and insulted. At the time his art was considered a real insult to the critics and traditional artists.

The constant change that Claude noticed all had to do with the light. Claude was obsessed with light and color. He delighted on how the colors changed when the different hours of the day would create a different image, all depending on the light. This might seem a simple enough idea, but just look at how often we ignore our surroundings. Since we are born, we notice the light, the contrasts it makes, and the shadows it creates. We were thrilled with the light and the games it played. As we got older the contrasts and the shadows became less interesting because we grew accustomed to them. Next time you're around an infant watch where the baby looks. When not looking at a loved one, the infant will often look at the light and shadows.

So while we might ignore these changes once we grow older, Monet embraced them. When looking at Monet's body of work, and a large one it is, you notice that he painted the same scene over and over again. The location might have been the same, but what he painted each time was very different. Monet noticed how the light changed during the day and created different colors and shapes in otherwise the same exact location and place. His focus on nature, colors and shadows reminds us of the true beauty of the everyday we ignore. Perhaps this is why he is so loved and admired today.

Monet was constantly told how to paint and what subjects he should paint. The themes he was told to paint were basically patriotic and idealistic. He was to paint like the old masters, and he was enrolled in a studio in Paris. He was taught under Charles Gleyre, a known painter who taught and emphasized the traditional ways. If you did not paint like the old masters, you were not a real artist. If you challenged the rules, you would not get accepted by the Salon. The Salon, the big boys controlled the art world in France. This was the basic tone of art in France during Monet's early life.

Monet tried to listen to Charles for a short time, but his ideals conflicted too much with Charles' and the Salon as a whole. He was interested in nature and he wanted to paint outside. He left Gleyre's studio and decided to explore the outdoors himself. He looked around -- and I mean really looked around. He noticed that the trees were not really just green, but many different colors. He also concentrated on how the light changed the colors and the look of his surroundings. To further emphasize his vision he would often sit at the same location painting the same scene during different times of the day. It is when you look at these works side by side that you really learn to appreciate how dramatic the changes are when the light changes. After time, people understood the beauty of Monet's work. He was not interested in techniques but color and light.

I often have very little patience and find myself never being able to replicate what Monet had done -- to sit in a location and paint the same scene over and over, with the different lights. Maybe it is all that TV watching, and wanting to be entertained. It was very difficult for me to continue this project. When trying this I notice that Monet had to paint rather quickly, because of his rough, unfinished style. I tried to focus on the colors and the light. I once heard that squinting helps one see the true colors and not the colors that we might have in our head because of association. The world was a different place for me that day. I never noticed how much the light influenced our world. It's often something we ignore in our busy lives.

Monet can teach us many things, but one of the most important is how light is ever-changing. Light is what changes our world. So the next time you think nothing is going on or you're just waiting for something to happen, take a look around and really look. You will see that every hour has a new tale to tell. Just maybe then you will stop waiting, and take action in our ever-changing world.

Affliate Programs Online Money Making

Affliate Programs Online Money Making

The first step for almost anybody who wants to make money online is to learn how to make money with affiliate marketing. This is a good first step because it teaches, by way of experience, the basics of internet marketing. It's also good for the beginner because you don't have to spend time or money creating your own product or spending lots of money on a good sales writer.

As an affiliate marketer, your job is not to sell but to pre-sell your affiliate products. This doesn't involve making a direct pitch. Rather, your affiliate marketing website, blog or e-list should concentrate on the problems your niche market experiences. After all, most products--especially information products--are sold to people who have a problem they want to solve.

When you sell someone else's product, you don't have to worry about paying anyone to write a sales letter because it's already done for you. You also don't have to worry about testing different versions of the sales letter to see which one works better. (Product owners do this all the time, because even something as small as a new headline or extra bullet point can add thousands of dollars of value if it drives up enough site traffic.) The benefit of this is that you can use the sales letter that's already been written to identify not only what the problem is, but also the emotional triggers associated with it. Then, on your blog, your web pages or on your e-list, you can talk about those problems from the angle of a consumer. You don't even have to directly pitch the product--in fact, it's often better if you don't! Just make sure you provide a link and a small advertisement about the product somewhere close to your content.

Good sales letters written by competent sales writers can cost anywhere up to the low four-figure to the five-figure range. One reason good sales literature costs so much is because the writer may end up spending a whole month researching it. It's not just sales words that go into the material. Hours and hours of product research--and more importantly, market and consumer research--go into the building of a sales letter. Good sales writers are "worth their rate" in gold, though. After all, a sales letter is what gets that prospect to say the final "yes."

If you are then you don’t need to bother reading this article because it is not for you. If you are like most of us your website sales are slow and unpredictable and you need to think of new ways to make money online without taking more time and effort. All of your time should be dedicated to producing your product, right? Well, here are just a few ways to make a little bit or a lot of money online without any effort

1. Affiliates Sign up to become an affiliate for other businesses that are on the net. I only sign up with the companies that I honestly would recommend to anyone. All that you have to do is refer your customers to these sites. Once one of my referrals makes a purchase, I receive a small payment. With some of the affiliate programs the fee is quite large.
2. Google Ads I was not too sure about this one but I signed up and I am now convinced. The first week that I had Google ads on my website I made $.18 and the next week I made $6.45! Wow! Big boost. If I keep this up, I just may be able to pay for my web host by the end of the month!
3. Google Search Works close to the same way as the ads. People use your search tool, make a purchase and then you are compensated
. 4. Amazon Another great tool that will trickle in a few dollars here and there, all for 10 minutes of your time putting a little code into your website and Amazon does the rest.
5. Selling Ad Space you could sell ad space if you have a site that has high traffic.
